For those who have been following the news, you might have heard the Jurassic World’s Colin Trevorrow was tapped to be the director of the movie, but unfortunately Lucasfilm has since announced via the Star Wars website that Treverrow will no longer be directing the movie. It was not announced as to who might be replacing him, or if it could have impacted the movie’s release date.
In an official statement posted onto the website, “Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”
This is actually not the first time that the recent Star Wars movies have had issues. For example the spin-off Han Solo movie recently lost both of its directors as well, and this was a couple of weeks before the end of principal photography, but in case with a little over a year to go, hopefully things will still be on track.
