Sennheiser Unveils Wireless Momentum Free Headphones

#IFA2017 – As we’re starting to see the trend of handset makers ditch the headphone jack, much to the annoyance of many users, it also means that need for wireless headphones are on the rise. To be fair wireless headphones have always been a convenient solution, but they’ve always been more optional rather than a necessity, at least until more recent times.

Now if you’re in the market for a new set of wireless headphones, you might be interested to learn that Sennheiser has announced a new pair of wireless earbuds in the form of the Momentum HD1 Free. These are the company’s latest wireless headphones and are essentially a less bulky take on the Sennheiser HD1 wireless in-ear headphones that was launched at CES earlier this year.

As you can see from the photo, Sennheiser has done away with the neck band and instead is relying on just the cable. This means that stowing them away is a lot easier, and thanks to magnetic earpieces, they can clip together and be worn around the neck when not in use. The headphones will rely on Bluetooth 4.2 and will have Qualcomm’s apt-X and AAC codec support.

The Momentum HD1 Free will also feature 6 hours of battery life, a three-button remote, and an in-line microphone. No word on pricing just yet, but the Sennheiser HD1 in-ear wireless headphones retail for around $200, so we expect it should be around that range as well. They are expected to be available come October 2017.
