Finnish company HMD Global has licensed the Nokia brand and it’s the company that’s now making the Nokia handsets that you see on the market today. These are Android-powered handsets that cater to all three spectrums of the market, entry-level, mid-range, and high-end. It has now been confirmed that the Nokia Android 8.0 Oreo update is going to be released for all Nokia-branded handsets that HMD Global has released so far.

This was confirmed by HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas on Twitter. He tweeted that “all of our smartphones will upgrade to Oreo.” Yes, this includes the low-end Nokia 3 as well.

Google released Android 8.0 Oreo officially only recently. The update has only been released for its Pixel devices so far. Third-party OEMs will need some time to get the update ready for their devices before they sent it out.

Sarvikas didn’t confirm anything about the timing, though. He didn’t comment on when the update is going to be rolled out for the Nokia handsets. It can reasonably be expected that the update may not be rolled out for these devices before a couple of months at least.

Those who own Nokia handsets at least know now that they will get the Oreo update. Many believed that the low-end Nokia 3 might not receive the Oreo update but the company has now set the record straight. All of the Nokia-branded handsets that it has released so far will eventually be updated to Oreo.
