Recently it was reported that Square Enix was apparently exploring ways to bring Final Fantasy XV onto the Nintendo Switch, or at least that was according to the game’s director Hajime Tabata. However it turns out that maybe gamers shouldn’t hold their breath for the game just yet.
According to a recent interview with Famitsu (via Nintendo Everything), Square Enix has stated that there are no official plans to bring Final Fantasy XV onto the Switch just yet. While they didn’t contradict the earlier comments, the company has instead clarified that they were simply conducting technical examinations of what they could bring onto the platform, and that Final Fantasy XV was one of the tests that they conducted.
The good news is that while nothing can be confirmed yet, Square Enix doesn’t seem to be closed to the idea of bringing the game onto the Switch. The company had previously promised that they will be fully supporting the Switch, but for now development on Final Fantasy XV is being focused on the PC version of the game as well as the new DLC, but who knows what the future holds?
We’ve already seen companies like Bethesda bring over some of its major titles like the 2016 DOOM reboot, the newly announced Wolfenstein II, as well as fan-favorite Skyrim.
