If you’ve been meaning to purchase a NVIDIA Shield TV but the $199.99 price tag has been preventing you from it, NVIDIA today launched a new option for those who want to save a bit of money. NVIDIA has launched a new model today. This particular model of the Shield TV ships with a remote. It doesn’t come with a gamepad controller.
The new NVIDIA Shield TV comes with the Bluetooth remote out of the box but it doesn’t feature the gamepad controller. Those who just want to buy this Android TV device for its entertainment options should certainly pick up this model.
However, customers would be better off getting the full version. That’s because the Shield TV with remote has been priced at $179.99 while the full version with the gamepad controller costs $199.99.
It’s a bit odd that there’s only a $20 difference here given that the gamepad controller itself costs $60. Customers who pick up this model and decide that they would like to have the gamepad controller as well will actually end up paying $40 over and above the price of the full version.
NVIDIA has started taking pre-orders for the Shield TV with remote starting today. It will start shipping units on October 18th. The $199.99 model is shipping immediately.
