However in a recent report from Bloomberg (via 9to5Mac), it seems that Apple really does not want to rely too heavily on Samsung and are apparently negotiating with LG in which the company will help Apple produce components for its iPhones. The report claims that LG and Apple are still in the process of negotiating the size of the upfront payments and details, but apparently it is in the final stages already.
This is actually not the first time we are hearing that LG could supply Apple with OLED screens. Earlier this year there was a report that Apple was pushing LG to create production facilities to help produce the displays, so if anything it seems like this report corroborates those earlier claims. In fact we have actually also heard reports that Apple is looking to develop their own OLED technology, although we reckon that might take a while, but in the meantime it seems that LG and Samsung will still have Apple’s business.
