Apple Details Which Third-Party Chargers Will Support Fast Charging

While Apple did not explicitly mention this feature during the iPhone 8 and iPhone X’s announcements, it was later discovered that both phones will support fast-charging, albeit with a caveat. This caveat came in the form of how only using specific chargers that users will be able to take advantage of the feature.

However the good news is that if you wanted clearer and more explicit information, the folks at MacRumors have recently stumbled across an Apple support document in which Apple details the chargers that users need for fast charging, as well as what to look out for if you are planning to use third-party chargers.

According to Apple with regards to third-party chargers, the company writes, “A comparable third-party USB-C power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD).” Ultimately it seems that a USB-C to Lightning cable is still required for fast charging, but at least with third-party chargers users can potentially save themselves some money compared to Apple’s more expensive accessories which range from $49 to $70 depending on the power output.

It isn’t quite as convenient compared to Android’s fast charging options, but we guess at least the option is there should users decide that they don’t mind spending a bit more money to get the required hardware.
