In a tweet by developer Steve Troughton-Smith, it seems that thanks to the recently leaked iOS 11 GM that the names of this year’s iPhones have been revealed. The “standard” models will apparently be known as the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, while the OLED iPhone will apparently be known as the iPhone X.

This is actually not the first time we have heard that name. It was reported earlier that the OLED model will be called the iPhone X as it is supposed to represent the iPhone’s 10th anniversary, hence the Roman numeral X is being used. It does break from tradition as far as iPhone naming schemes are concerned, but we guess it is also rather appropriate.
In any case we should have the official details come 12th of September which is when Apple will be making the new iPhones official, so do be sure to check back with us then for more details and for the confirmation.
