Whenever new phones are announced, a lot of the attention is focused on things like the handset’s design, display vividness, resolution, size, camera megapixels, processor speed, and so on. However not much attention is paid to the speakers, although with the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, Apple did emphasize on how its new speakers would be louder than before.
However the question is, is it really louder? That’s what the folks at iClarified did when they conducted a speaker volume test of the iPhone 7 versus that of the iPhone 8. Apple stated that loudness is expected to have been increased by as much as 25%, and the video above attempts to find out if that is indeed the case.
To test out the speakers, iClarified placed a sound level meter at the bottom of the device for one test, and then in the middle of the device for the second test. Based on the readings, it seems that the iPhone 8 is louder than the iPhone 7, although not by much which could easily be a margin of error.
However it should be noted that with the iPhone 8, Apple has given it stereo speakers by placing one speaker at the bottom and one at the top, so maybe when combined it will produce a louder sound. In any case if speaker volume is important to you, then this is something to take note of if you’re considering the iPhone 8.
