According to earlier reports, it was suggested that Square Enix could be getting ready to bring Final Fantasy IX onto the PS4. This was thanks to a sighting by Gematsu in which it appeared that the game received a rating from The Pan European Gaming Information board, and sure enough it looks like the reports were right.
Square Enix has since officially announced that Final Fantasy IX will be making its way onto the PS4. Its release on the PS4 shouldn’t really be all too surprising especially when you consider that the game was initially released on the first PlayStation console way back in 2000. It was later released onto Android and iOS devices, as well as for the PC.
While Square Enix did not confirm whether or not the PS4 version would be a port of the PC version, initial impressions have suggested that it is most likely a port of the PC version, which isn’t necessarily the worst thing, plus isn’t it the gameplay that truly matters, anyway? The game is available starting today so for gamers who want to relive some nostalgia or for gamers who want to see what the fuss is all about, you’ll be able to get your hands on it via the PlayStation Store in Japan.
