This is why it does not come as a complete surprise to learn that Apple is expanding its TV team with a bunch of new hires from the industry. The company has made four new hires from the TV industry, three of which are from Sony. The first is Kim Rozenfeld who was the head of current programming at Sony Pictures Television.
The other two include Max Aronson and Ali Woodruff who will be joining Apple as development executives, with Aronson previously working as the VP of drama development at Sony Pictures TV, while Woodruff was the director, creative affairs. Rita Cooper Lee, formerly the head of publicity of WGN America will also be coming on board to serve as lead communications.
In recent years we’ve seen Apple start to branch out beyond just tech, venturing into fields like fashion by hiring veterans from the fashion industry, and music with the acquisition of Beats and also by bringing Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine on board, and more recently TV/video with their latest hires. It is rumored that one of the new products Apple could announce next week is a 4K-ready Apple TV.
