In a report from The Information (paywall; via The Verge), it seems that Snap could be looking to acquire drone maker Zero Zero Robotics, who for those unfamiliar is the company that created the Hover Camera Passport Drone which is a drone that is small and foldable enough that you can bring with you wherever you go.
Its portability and also some of its features like tracking are what helps to set it apart from other drones, and could also be the reason why Snap could be interested. The report claims that Zero Zero was the one who reached to Snap when seeking funding, although the company’s CEO has since denied the claims while Snap has declined to comment in general.
Assuming this is true, Zero Zero will actually be the second drone company that Snap would have acquired. Several months ago there were reports that Snap had acquired Ctrl Me Robotics, another drone company, although why Snap would need so many drone companies remains to be seen, but it’s starting to look like the Spectacles won’t be the company’s only hardware efforts.
