Samsung’s New Smartwatch Possibly One For Swimmers

#IFA2017 – Samsung confirmed yesterday that at the IFA 2017 trade show in Berlin next week, it’s going to show off a brand new smartwatch. Not much is known about a new Gear smartwatch at this point in time. Recent leaks suggest that it’s going to be called the Gear Sport. It may even have 5 ATM water resistance which means that it will be a good option for those who want to take their smartwatch swimming with them.

The Gear Sport has received its FCC and Wi-Fi certifications in recent weeks. It has since been revealed that the smartwatch will be powered by Tizen 3.0. That’s the latest version of Samsung’s homegrown operating system.

A new leak today provides us with what might possibly be our first glimpse of the Gear Sport. It appears to be some sort of an in-store promotional material for the Gear Sport. Translation of the text reveals that it’s going to have 5 ATM water resistance.

5 ATM water resistance means that the smartwatch will be good in up to 50 meters of water. That’s enough for those who want to swim with their smartwatch on. This also means that the Gear Sport might offer the ability to track swimming workouts.

Granted, all of this is speculation based on an unverified leak at this point in time, but it’s not going to be long before Samsung officially unveils this device.
