It’s interesting that Samsung might not call it the Gear Fit3, unless of course the company has plans for a Gear Fit3 and that the Gear Fit2 Pro will be a variation of last year’s model, which based on the report seems to be the case. In terms of design, it seems that the Gear Fit2 Pro won’t differ too greatly from last year’s model.
However it is expected to come with new features such as 5 ATM water resistance versus the IP68 certification of last year’s model. This means that the Pro version should be able to withstand water better and will apparently has been designed for swimmers in mind. The device is also expected to feature support for music playback such as Spotify (even offline support, but we expect you will need a Spotify Premium membership for that).
It is also said to come with a more sturdy strap that will help with vigorous workouts, so if you felt that the Gear Fit2’s strap was a bit more flimsy, then the Gear Fit2 Pro should get the job done. We have heard rumors that Samsung could be planning some kind of smartwatch/fitness tracker hybrid, and we’re not sure if the Gear Fit2 Pro is that rumored device, so take it with a grain of salt and check back with us in the near future for the details.
