HBO was hacked recently, it was proved by leaks which included the script of an unaired Game of Thrones season 7 episode as well as other content. Reports suggest that hackers managed to steal 1.5TB of data from HBO which includes scripts for more GoT episodes as well as two unreleased episodes of Room 104 and Ballers. It’s now being reported that personal details of Game of Thrones stars have now been leaked online.
The hackers have released 3.4GB of data so far. They’re reportedly demanding that HBO pay them an undisclosed amount in ransom if it wants to prevent them from leaking any more content.
One of the leaked documents is said to contain a list of personal phone numbers, email addresses, and home address of all Game of Thrones season 7 stars, including the main cast members like Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, and Lena Headey.
A forensic investigation is ongoing and HBO is still reviewing what data has been leaked. The cable giant is still of the view that there’s not enough evidence to suggest that its email system as a whole has been compromised.
However, some reports suggest that a chunk of emails have been leaked as well. Clearly, HBO would not want it to be a repeat of what happened with Sony back in 2014.
The Sony Pictures hack crippled the company’s entire email network and the leaked emails did significant reputational damage.
