For gamers in the US and Japan, it seems that Nintendo has started to rollout PayPal support for the Switch’s eShop, as you can see in the photo above. It should be noted that right now PayPal support is only for the US and Japan as it seems that other countries are not eligible for the support yet, but presumably this should be extended to other markets in the future.
That being said given that the Switch is region-free, it means that anyone can create a US or Japan-based eShop account and attach their PayPal account to it, so this isn’t quite as region-exclusive as you might think. This will come in handy for gamers who might prefer to consolidate their purchases with their PayPal account, or if they would like the extra protection and benefits of using PayPal.
We’re not sure if there are plans to add support for other services in the future, but for now we guess PayPal is a good alternative.
