Microsoft today announced a new Xbox Wireless Adapter, the dongle that’s used for connecting an Xbox controller to a Windows PC, and if you’ve seen the previous one you’ll immediately notice that the new adapter looks so much better. The old adapter was almost two times the size of a regular USB drive. It was chunky and didn’t really look nice. The new one addresses that pain point.
Microsoft says that the new Xbox Wireless Adapter is 66 percent smaller than its predecessor and it really does look similar to a conventional USB drive. At least it doesn’t seem out of place like the previous adapter.
However, just like its predecessor, the new Xbox Wireless Adapter can support up to eight controllers simultaneously aside from four chat headsets and two stereo headsets.
The adapter is compatible with all Windows 10 PCs, laptops, and tablets. It’s listed on the Microsoft Store right now for $24.99 and will be available starting August 8th.
It’s good that Microsoft has retained the price of the adapter so customers who want to pick one up don’t have to justify the increased cost to themselves.
All they have to do right now is head over to Microsoft’s online store and pre-order the new Xbox Wireless Adapter and then wait for it to ship come August 8th.
