Google is expected to announce their new Pixel smartphones soon. Given that the company just announced Android 8.0 Oreo, we can only imagine that the new smartphones are around the corner as well. However it seems that Google might have more than just smartphones that they plan to announce.
In a report from Android Police, they have heard from their sources that Google could unveil more than just smartphones. The report claims that Google might have a new Chromebook Pixel laptop in the works as well as a smaller version of the Google Home, both of which could be announced alongside the new Pixel handsets.
Starting with the new Pixel laptop, the last time we saw a Pixel laptop from Google was back in 2015 which means that a refresh to the Pixel lineup isn’t entirely out of the question. However Android Police is unclear as to whether or not this particular Chromebook is the rumored Project Bison from last year in which it runs a new hybrid OS of Android and Chrome OS called “Andromeda”.
As for the Google Home, it seems that this will simply be a smaller version of the current device, which is admittedly rather bulky. Presumably the smaller stature will let it compete against Amazon’s other Echo speakers like the Echo Tap and the Echo Dot. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information.
