When Season 2 of Netflix’s Daredevil was released, it introduced a new hero from the Marvel universe into the show in the form of the Punisher, although we guess he is more of an anti-hero than an actual hero. The character was portrayed by Jon Bernthal and it was so well-received that Netflix greenlit a series based on the character.
For those who can’t wait to see the show, you’ll be pleased to learn that Netflix has since released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming series which you can check out in the video above. It doesn’t really tell us much of what to expect and who we can expect, but it does a good job at setting the tone as it includes flashbacks of the character’s history and family and gives clues as to how he eventually became the Punisher (for those who do not know the character’s background, at least).
There is still no specific release date for the series yet, but Netflix did confirm earlier this year that it will be released later this year. However given that The Defenders miniseries was just released earlier today, we guess Netflix might not want to release the show just yet so as to give The Defenders a bit more time to “breathe”. In the meantime you can check out the trailer above to sate (some of) your curiosity.
