At CES 2017 earlier this year, the folks at Misfit took the wraps off a new wearable in the form of the Vapor smartwatch. While smartwatch launches aren’t exactly new, this marked the first touchscreen smartwatch from the company. It was expected to ship this summer, but it looks like that is no longer the case.
According to Misfit, it looks like the Vapor smartwatch has been delayed and will now be shipping in October, which we guess isn’t that long after summer, so it’s not like customers will have to wait too long for it. No word on why the smartwatch has been delayed, but either way those who want it will have to remain patient for now.
Unfortunately its delay also means that Misfit will be ceding potential market share to its competitors, such as Apple who is expected to launch the Apple Watch Series 3 in September, and Samsung who is set to unveil new wearables at IFA 2017 tomorrow. However one of the things the Misfit Vapor has going for it is that it is priced at $199 which is cheaper than some of the options out there, so there’s that.
In terms of specs/features, the Vapor will feature a 1.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, 4GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 2100 chipset, and water-resistance up to 50 meters. It will also run on Android Wear and play nicely with Google Assistant.
