Wireless charging isn’t new technology, but with the iPhone 8, Apple is expected to finally introduce a native solution to the handset. This is one of the more popular iPhone 8 rumors that has been floating around, and has also been hinted at with Apple’s joining of the Wireless Power Consortium.
This is why it doesn’t really come as a complete shock or surprise to see alleged production photos of the iPhone 8 that shows off the wireless charging coils built into the phone. The photos were tweeted by Benjamin Geskin (via AppleInsider) and are apparently photos taken from Foxconn.
Interestingly enough the photos also seem to reveal the existence of an L-shaped battery. With the odd shape of the battery, it means that Apple will not have to necessarily design around the shape of most batteries, which in turn allows them to maintain the size of the phone while offering a larger capacity battery.
This is in line with earlier rumors that have said that the iPhone 8 could offer a larger battery. This is not the first time that L-shaped batteries have been mentioned. A report from last month also indicated that LG could be the supplier of Apple’s 2018 iPhone batteries, which will also be of the L-shape variety.
