As the date to the iPhone 8’s launch gets closer, we’re starting to see how the rumors are coming together in which they are more or less agreeing on things like features, specs, and design. In fact not too long ago, the folks at Zach Epstein at BGR , which is apparently 99% the real thing.
Speaking to CNBC, BGR’s Jonathan Geller is pretty convinced that the mockup is as close to the real thing as we can get for now. “Those pictures, while they’re not the real phone — they’re based on designs and molds and engineering samples — I would say that’s 99 percent the phone. It always looks better than it does in those crappy molds and dummies. But I think that’s the phone.”
Note that the mockup isn’t an actual “leak” or a “lost” prototype, but rather it has been cobbled together based on previously leaked designs, schematics, and rumors, but like we said, Geller seems to be pretty sure that this is the real deal and what the phone could look like. While we can’t say with 100% certainty that it is real, the design is based on what many reputable leaksters have shown in the past, so it stands to believe that at least some of it could be true.
In any case you’re probably best taking it with a grain of salt for now, but with Apple expected to announce the new phone in September, we won’t have to wait much longer to see if the rumors and leaks have been right all this while.
