Ikea is jumping on the renewable energy bandwagon that’s starting to signal a shift in the energy market. The furniture retailer has announced that it has started selling solar panels and batteries to customers in the United Kingdom. The products that it’s selling include panels that can be integrated with existing roofing solutions that are provided by Solarcentury, a solar solutions company based in the country.
The panels have a 25 year guarantee while there’s a six-year warranty on installation and all aspects of the solar system hardware. This covers customers in case anything should go wrong and provides them with peace of mind.
The prices for installations start at under $4,000. The battery storage products being sold by Ikea work with solar panels that are available at the retailer as well as those sold directly by Solarcentury. They can also be bought as add-ons for existing home solar solutions.
Ikea says that this is going to help increase solar usage rates in the United Kingdom with the battery solutions enabling the average home with a solar system to achieve almost 80 percent solar usage.
Ikea has become a one-stop solution for customers in the UK that are looking to go solar. They can get everything they need as quickly as possible, starting from a free quotation to final installation of the panels and the batteries.
Whether or not Ikea will offer similar services in other markets that it services remains to be seen.
