Google Providing $20 Project Fi Service Credit To Users In Hurricane Harvey Areas

Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas a couple of days back. It has caused a lot of problems for tens of thousands of people in the state. Many have been forced out of their homes due to urban flooding. Some major tech companies are doing their bit to help people in the affected areas. Google is helping out by providing $20 Project Fi credit for free to users in those areas.

A Project Fi Community Manager confirmed on Reddit that Project Fi users in those areas will receive $20 service credit automatically.

The company acknowledges that many people have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey. It hopes that the $20 service credit it’s providing will help users search for resources or reach out to loved ones.

Project Fi users whose indicated billing zip codes are part of the impacted areas, Google will automatically apply a $20 service credit to their account over the next few days. They will be able to use that service credit as they see fit.

Major carriers in the United States are also helping out by waiving text, data, and call charges for people in the affected areas. It makes sense for Project Fi to do something similar. Apple is also connecting donations for the American Red Cross through iTunes.
