However the problem with Project Treble is that during the announcement, Google said that it would only be available on devices that ship with Android O onwards, with the exception being last year’s Pixel handsets, which means that there will be millions of Android users out there that will be missing out on this feature, or at least that was what we thought.
During a recent podcast in which several Google engineers were featured (via Android Police), it was revealed that Google is actually working on potentially bringing Project Treble onto existing and older Android devices as well. The engineers did not mention which companies that Google is working with and what devices we are looking at, but we suppose it’s still comforting to know that older Android devices might not necessarily be left behind.
However there is no guarantee that this will work out so maybe don’t hold your breath just yet.
