Samsung Galaxy S9 Rumored To Pack Snapdragon 845 Chipset

Now that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has been officially launched, we’re sure the next phone that many are looking forward to is the Galaxy S9, which is widely expected to be launched in 2019 even though Samsung has yet to officially confirm anything. Now thanks to the folks at XDA, some details of the phone have been revealed.

According to the report, it seems that they have heard from their sources that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will pack a Snapdragon 845 chipset, which is presumably the successor to this year’s Snapdragon 835. This should not come as a surprise. In fact an earlier report did suggest that Samsung apparently has first dibs on the Snapdragon 845s, meaning that the company could be the first to launch a phone powered by the chipset.

The report also goes on to add that the phone will be launched with Android 8.0 Oreo, which once again makes perfect sense since it would be odd for it to launch with anything less. However there is some disappointing news and that is according to their source, the Galaxy S9 will continue to maintain the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, meaning that once again it looks like an in-display sensor is potentially out of the question.

Other rumored details include the same QHD+ display with an 18.5:9 display aspect ratio, and that it will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Note that this is for the Galaxy S9 and not the S9+ which could offer up slightly different specs, but either way we have to say it is a bit too early for anything to be certain just yet, so take it with a grain of salt for now.
