Facebook seems to be shutting down quite a few of its app lately. Just earlier we reported that the Facebook Groups app would be coming to an end, and now it seems that another Facebook app will be put on the chopping block and it is none other than Lifestage, an app that is barely a year old.

For those who are unfamiliar with Lifestage, this is an app that Facebook launched last August in which it was aimed pretty much at teens, which is why if you’re in your 20s or older, there’s a good chance that this app has any relevance to you. The app was initially designed to be like a Snapchat rival, where teens would upload photos and videos of various things that they like or dislike in an attempt to connect teens who are like-minded.

As to why the app is being shut down, Facebook did not specify a reason why, but they did issue a statement to Business Insider which reads, “Teens continue to make up an important part of the global community on Facebook, and we’ve learned a lot from Lifestage. We will continue to incorporate these learnings into features in the main Facebook app.”

This is not the first time that a Facebook app has been shut down, and we doubt that it will be the last. However this isn’t that uncommon especially since sometimes it’s hard to say if an app will be successful or not.
