When it comes to video game trailers, there are many approaches that we have seen over the years, with some developers opting to create trailers based on in-game footage, while others opt for more cinematic-quality trailers with CG, or in the case with Bungie’s Destiny 2, it seems that they have opted to use a live action trailer.
According to its description on YouTube, “Everything you love about Earth is gone. Except for the Last City. And now a psycho rhino named Ghaul is coming to take that away too. On September 6, it’s time to grab some big guns, unite our scattered heroes, and take back our home.”
The trailer was directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who was also being Kong: Skull Island and will also be directing the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the director expressed how directing this live action trailer for Destiny 2 will help him translate the Metal Gear Solid game into a movie.
“I think for me there is always going to be a little bit of exploration of playing with that translation of active experience to passive experience. And I think that builds into what I’m trying to achieve with Metal Gear and takes the first steps into that world of how these things can translate.” In any case if you have a few minutes to spare, you definitely want to check it out in the video above, even if you have no intention of playing the game.
