In fact things are expected to only get better because according to DigiTimes (via 9to5Mac), Apple’s suppliers are apparently saying that by the end of the year, the number of orders they are receiving will bring the number of Apple Watch shipments to 15 million. In fact it’s not stopping there as suppliers are claiming that this number is expected to rise and will hit 20 million in 2018.
However like we said Apple has yet to formally announce the figures so take it with a grain of salt for now. Also shipping figures does not necessarily equate sales figures, but presumably Apple is trying to match its supply and demand. The Cupertino company is also expected to launch the Apple Watch Series 3 later this year.
The smartwatch is rumored to come with support for LTE connectivity which should help reduce dependence on the iPhone for an internet connection. It is possible that the introduction of the LTE model could spur demand and help hit that 20 million shipping figure next year.
