Based on the rumors, it’s safe to say that Apple will be launching a new Apple Watch later this year which presumably is the Series 3. In a report by Chinese news outlet Economic Daily (via 9to5Mac), it seems that the Apple Watch Series 3 has entered into its final testing phase, meaning that it’s now one step closer to being launched.
The Apple Watch Series 3 is expected to be announced alongside the new iPhones in September. Apple has yet to send out any formal invitations to an event in September, but given the past iPhone launches, it’s safe to say that September is one of the more likely launch timeframes.
The report goes on to add that mass production is about to begin following successful testing, and that it is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2017. According to the previous rumors we’ve been hearing about, the Apple Watch Series 3 is expected to come with some new features, one of which is support for cellular connectivity.
This means that should Apple Watch owners choose to, they can purchase a data plan for their smartwatch and will not have to rely on their iPhones for connectivity. Apart from that, it is said that the Apple Watch Series 3 will also be retaining the same form factor that we’ve all grown accustomed to, so if you are thinking of buying it, know that you’ll be buying it mostly for its new features and not so much its design.
