If learning a new language on the go is something you’re interested in, Duolingo’s platform is one of the more popular options available today. In fact it seems that not only will Duolingo cover more traditional languages, but soon you will be able to learn some newly-created languages too, such as Games of Thrones’ High Valyrian.
For those unfamiliar, High Valyrian is the language spoken by Daenerys Targaryen in the show (along with Dothraki). Now the language has been inside of Duolingo’s incubator program for a while now, and it looks like it is getting closer to a release. According to the status on Duolingo’s website, it is close to reaching phase 2 which means that it will be released as a beta. This is estimated to take place on the 16th of July, 2017.
We’re not sure how long it will take to go from beta to a full release, but generally speaking a beta means that a piece of software is close to being ready for mass consumption with some kinks that need to be ironed out. This means that if you’re interested in learning High Valyrian, soon you will be able to.
In the meantime it seems that the folks at Duolingo have primed the release of the beta for the same date as the season 7 premiere of the show.
