This range has since expanded and now includes the A7 and A9 series of full-frame mirrorless cameras, but it seems that there could be a new model in the works. According to Photo Rumors, they were tipped off by a reader that there was an image posted onto a message board in China which teases what is supposedly the “world’s slightest full-frame interchangeable lens camera”. We’re not sure what “slightest” means, but Photo Rumors has suggested that maybe it could mean the slimmest.
Apparently this will come in the form of the Sony A5 which will be a new addition to Sony’s A-series of mirrorless cameras and full-frame mirrorless cameras. Obviously you should take this with a grain of salt for now, but back in May Sony did tease that they had an upcoming camera announcement, so maybe they could be related.
We’re not sure when the announcement will be, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information. Also while it might be presumptuous, the lower model number could hint that it might be a cheaper alternative to the A7 and A9 series.
