Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 Will Reportedly Debut With Google Pixel 2

Google is due to launch its new Pixel handsets later this year so it’s not surprising to see that rumors about this handset are picking up the pace. The latest suggests that the Google Pixel 2 might be the first handset to be powered by Qualcomm’s updated Snapdragon 836 processor. It’s going to be a slightly more powerful version of the Snapdragon 835 that’s found in existing flagships like the Galaxy S8 from Samsung.

Previous rumors have also suggested that the Galaxy Note 8 is likely going to be the handset with which the Snapdragon 836 debuts. However, that’s no longer said to be the same, it’s now believed that the Snapdragon 836 will debut with the Google Pixel 2.

That won’t be surprising given that the Snapdragon 821 also debuted with the Google Pixel. The Snapdragon 836 is going to have the same GPU and CPU combination as the Snapdragon 835 but they will have higher clock speeds and will thus be able to deliver slightly better performance.

None of this has been officially confirmed, though. The rumors are from unverified and unofficial sources. Google hasn’t even said anything about its new Pixel smartphones at this point in time so nothing is set in stone just yet.

Google is expected to unveil the new Google Pixel 2 handsets in the fall this year.
