With our smartphone cameras being more capable than compact cameras back in the day, it’s safe to say that many of us out there are starting to use our phones as our main camera for photography and video, which is why companies like OnePlus are stepping up their game with dual cameras on the OnePlus 5.
However it looks like OnePlus has a problem with the OnePlus 5’s audio recording, especially in landscape mode. In a post on Reddit, a video uploaded by Jordy Holland on YouTube was shared in which it highlights how the OnePlus 5 seems to be inverting the audio channels when recording in landscape mode.
What does this mean? This means that when you record in landscape, sound captured on the right is instead played on the left speaker, and vice versa. For the most part this shouldn’t really be an issue, although it can be a bit confusing if you have audio coming from either left or right. We should note that this is only when the phone is in landscape and the headphone jack is pointed right.
Apparently it seems that if you were to hold it the other way with the headphone jack pointing to the left, the problem isn’t there. Presumably this could be fixed with a software update, but whether or not OnePlus will address it remains to be seen as it seems that it is a problem discovered on the OnePlus 3T as well.
