HMD Global, the Finnish company that’s making Nokia-branded devices now, confirmed several months ago that it was going to release the Nokia 6 in the United States. This handset has been immensely popular elsewhere so it will be interesting to see how it fares in the U.S. Customers in the country who have been waiting to get their hands on one can finally do so today. The Nokia 6 is now available for purchase in the United States.
As previously confirmed, the Nokia 6 is going to be available from Amazon exclusively, at least initially. Two variants are being sold on Amazon. There’s a regular retail version and an Amazon Prime exclusive that costs a bit less but is supported by advertisements.
The Nokia 6 is a decent mid-range smartphone for the price being asked for it. It features a 5.5 inch full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It also features a 16 megapixel camera at the back.
The regular version of this handset is available for purchase online from Amazon for $229 unlocked and off-contract. Those who don’t mind putting up with ads can purchase the Amazon version for $179. They have to be a Prime member to purchase that version, though.
Both variants have full support for T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network in the country while only partial support is offered for AT&T’s 4G network. Verizon and Sprint customers are out of luck as far as support for 4G networks goes.
