A Potential Fix For The Nexus 5X Bootloop Has Been Found

The bootloop issues plaguing Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P owners are pretty infamous to the point where last year LG reportedly refunded customers who tried to send their devices in for a repair. However the good news is that if you are still holding onto your Nexus 5X, the folks at XDA might have found a fix.

Apparently this fix is derived from a fix for the Nexus 6P which was discovered earlier this week. According to the post on XDA, “The general consensus here with these fixes seem to indicate that the Snapdragon 808/810 chipsets were rushed out by Qualcomm and have degraded to the point where they’re partially broken. The heat generation issues of the Snapdragon 810 is not something new, but it looks like the 808 is having a similar issue when it comes to what is causing the bootloops.”

It should be noted that the fix right now says that it is untested, but for XDA members who have decided to take the plunge, it seems to be working. It does involve quite a bit of steps which for those who aren’t technically proficient might be intimidated by. As XDA points out, a more elegant solution for this fix could be discovered in the future, but in the meantime if you don’t mind taking a run at it, especially if your Nexus 5X has been sitting in a drawer collecting dust, then head on over to XDA’s website for the tutorial.
