If you’ve only started following Jon Stewart in recent years you may not remember that he has been a stand-up comedian in the past. It has now been confirmed that Stewart’s first stand-up comedy special in more than 20 years will be aired on HBO. The cable network has officially confirmed this today but hasn’t revealed a lot of information about it so it’s unclear what the new Jon Stewart stand-up special is going to be called, what the location will be, and when it’s going to be released.

This is going to be Stewart’s first time back on the conventional stand-up stage since his Jon Stewart: Unleavened special that was also aired on HBO back in 1996. A few years later, in 1999 to be precise, Stewart became the host of The Daily Show and the rest is history.

“I’m really thrilled to be able to return to stand-up on HBO,” Stewart has said in a statement, he’s also going to be hosting HBO’s Night of Too Many Stars benefit show which will take place later this year on November 18th at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

Stewart’s fans will certainly be very excited to see him back on the stand-up stage. It’s not like he hasn’t been missed ever since he decided to depart The Daily Show.
