Out of all the Marvel series released on Netflix, it’s safe to say that Iron Fist was probably the least well-received. There are many reasons why the series did not resonate with audiences, which we’re sure led to some wondering about the possibility of a second season. For those hoping that the show will have a chance to redeem itself, you’re in luck.
During the San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb made a surprise announcement that Iron Fist would be getting a second season on Netflix. It seems that this announcement was not shared with the panel as many expressed their surprise, especially Finn Jones who portrays the character Danny Rand in the show.
Loeb also teased that Iron Fist season 2 would be getting a new character in the form of Misty Knight. According to Loeb, “A friend of Colleen Wing may be coming by, and that makes me a little ‘Misty.’” That being said, Misty Knight isn’t a new character per se as the character was introduced in the Luke Cage series, but based on Loeb’s words, the character could become a series regular for the second season of Iron Fist.
No word on when the second season of Iron Fist will be released, but as it stands there are other Marvel shows that are in the queue, including The Defenders miniseries which will kick off on the 18th of August, as well as the third season of Daredevil, the second seasons of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, and also “The Punisher” spin-off which will see Jon Bernthal reprise his role.
