Louis Vuitton isn’t a brand that you would associate with affordability. The luxury brand’s products tend to run into thousands of dollars so its smartwatch is no different. The Louis Vuitton Android Wear smartwatch has been officially announced today. It’s called the Tambour Horizon and as you might have guessed, it’s expensive. Prices start at $2,450.
Louis Vuitton joins the growing list of fashion brands that have launched their own Android Wear smartwatches this year, particularly at a time when Google’s more conventional OEM partners have been staying away from launching new models.
The Tambour Horizon will be available in stainless steel, brushed steel, and black styles. The company is going to offer 30 strap options for men and an equal number for women.
It has a 1.3 inch 390×390 pixel resolution AMOLED display with a Snapdragon 2100 processor under the hood. There’s 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM, and Android Wear 2.0. It can do everything that any other Android Wear 2.0-powered smartwatch can do with the exception of heart rate monitoring because it doesn’t have the required sensor.
Two exclusive apps are on-board as well. Louis Vuitton City Guide will help users find stuff to do and places to visit when they’re in a new city while the Flight app will keep them on top of their travel information.
You’ll pay at least $2,450 for all of this and the price tag will go up with the customization options. Why you would want to do that is beyond me.
