#IFA2017 – We have confirmation that LG will hold a media event in Berlin on Thursday, Aug 31 at 09h00 am local time. Although the invitation card does not name what product will be unveiled, the “V” letter seen in the background leaves little doubt that the LG V30 is just around the corner.
The LG V-Series has been designed to cater to power-users, and the LG design team that is working on it typically has more freedom with this design than they would otherwise have with the wide-reaching G-Series (see our LG G6 review).
There have been many leaks about the upcoming LG V30, and among the major rumors, it is said that the LG V30 will…
- Lose the secondary screen, likey in favor of a larger 2:1 ratio display (depending on whom you listen since the leaked front frame suggest otherwise). There rumors of a secondary slide-out display, but it is hard to believe that this is true.
- Integrate wireless charging (for all regions?)
- Have 3 storage options of 32/64/128 GB (+micro SD)
- Feature an OLED display
The LG V30 is said to be powered by Snapdragon 835, which is widely expected since the platform has had time to stabilize and the V-Series has more budget room, to begin with. We wonder if LG will keep using the ESS Quad-DAC to power its audio since the Snapdragon 835 also has a very high-quality DAC that serves the same purpose.
In any case, it will be fun to speculate on what is a great series of power-user phones. The LG V10 and LG V20 phones have hardcore fans for their non-compromise approach on specific features such as sturdiness, top-notch audio quality, and removable battery.
The defining features of the LG V30 remain to be seen, but most of what made the success of the V20 will probably stick. See you at IFA! We have already booked that show.
