HMD Global, the company licensed to manufacture Nokia phones, has started to send out invites to the media to attend an event on the 16th of August in London. Obviously they did not state what exactly they would be announcing, but given the spate of leaks and rumors, it’s safe to say that this could be the Nokia 8’s official unveiling.
The handset was previously spotted on Nokia China’s website briefly before it was taken down, but that was pretty much all the confirmation that we needed to know that the handset was very much real. The listing also suggested that HMD and Nokia were getting close to officially announcing the handset, and now this media invite more or less confirms it.
In terms of specs, the rumors are saying that we could be looking at a 5.3-inch QHD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and 6GB of RAM. It will also reportedly pack a 13MP rear-facing camera with Carl Zeiss optics, but take it with a grain of salt and check back with us in the coming weeks for the details.
