However it seems that Google has quietly announced that the feature will be delayed. In an update to its blog, Google writes, “Based on your valuable feedback, we’ve decided to delay the launch of Backup and Sync while we make improvements to the product. We’re planning to launch in the next several weeks, but please monitor the G Suite Release Calendar for the specific date.”
We’re not sure what the feedback could have been to cause the delay, but either way we guess it’s good that Google will be taking their time with the release and making some changes that will hopefully improve the overall experience. As we mentioned in our earlier posting, Backup and Sync is aimed more towards consumers, and for enterprise users Google is recommending that they should continue using Drive and Drive File Stream.
In any case we’ll be keeping an eye out for a potential release date, so do check back with us in the near future for more updates.
