Widgets aren’t a new feature and have been around for pretty much the longest time ever on desktops and even mobile operating systems like Android. However it was not too long ago that Apple finally adopted them, although not exactly in the same way many had imagined, but we guess it’s better than nothing.

That being said if you do enjoy the widgets in iOS, you might be interested to learn that Google has recently updated its Google Calendar app where it will now come with a Today Widget. What this means is that users will now be able to get a quick view of calendar events without having to launch the app itself.

By default the view offered will show two events that you have stored/recorded in the app, and clicking “show more” will reveal an additional two. The Today Widget will also support 3D Touch (a feature on the iPhone 6s and onwards) where users can quickly add a new event, reminder, goal, or share their Google Calendar event without having to open the app.

This widget will be part of the latest update to the app, so if you haven’t updated your Google Calendar app already, now seems like a good time to do so.
