This is thanks to a recent post on the Android Central forums in which photos and details about the handset were revealed. Unfortunately there are parts of the original post that have since been deleted, so we’re not sure what we could have missed. However based on the details that were available, it seems that the poster has pretty much “confirmed” that it will be launched on AT&T.
The poster also revealed that the Active button has been removed and replaced with a Bixby button, similar to that on the Galaxy S8 and presumably on the upcoming Note 8 as well. The phone is also apparently made with a metal frame, bumpers that “feel like metal polymer mix” and screwed into the sides, and that for the most part it feels like last year’s model.
It is also apparently 1.5x thicker compared to the Galaxy S8, which we guess makes sense if Samsung does plan making it more rugged than the Galaxy S8. However given that ruggedness seems to be the main point of this phone, certain aspects are different from the Galaxy S8, such as how it will sport a flat display and have thicker bezels.
No word on pricing yet but presumably it shouldn’t be too long until the handset is official, so check back with us in the coming weeks/months for the details, but until then take it with a grain of salt.
