There’s a lot of hype surrounding Christoper Nolan’s new movie, it’s a Christopher Nolan movie after all, it’s called Dunkirk. As movie tie-in virtual reality experiences are getting popular, it’s no surprise that Dunkirk has received one as well. Intel has created a virtual reality experience for Dunkirk.
The studio Warner Bros. teamed up with Intel, Dell, and Microsoft to create a virtual reality tie-in for the new Christopher Nolan movie. The virtual reality experience will give viewers an idea of what it feels like to be trapped on a beach while enemy soldiers attack during the second world war. It’s going to be intense, to say the least.
Normally, 360-degree virtual reality videos are normally optimized for HD and 4K media. However, the company that produced this virtual reality experience, Practical Magic, stitched images 40 times that resolution.
This was made possible by Intel Xeon processors that were powering Dell’s blade servers and workstations. It required some serious processing power which Intel was able to provide through its Xeon processors.
Christopher Nolan’s new movie isn’t going to be out for a couple of weeks. You can catch Dunkirk at your local theater starting July 21st. The virtual reality experience which drops viewers into “the movie’s three key perspectives — land, sea and air,” is available now. Those who have an Oculus Rift, HTC Vive or Gear VR headset can now view it in all its glory.
