The first season of the animated series based on Konami’s Castlevania has been released on Netflix, and a second season has also been confirmed. However it seems that the show’s producer has plans beyond just animating Castlevania and is also interested in making animated adaptations of other video games, namely Metroid.
Speaking to Nintendo Life, the show’s producer Adi Shankar was asked if there are other video game series that he would like to adapt, in which he replied by saying, “Dark Metroid in the same anime style.” Note that Shankar’s response isn’t a confirmation that a Metroid series is in the works, but rather something he would like to do.
We suppose it wouldn’t exactly be the worst idea, plus with Nintendo announcing Metroid Prime 4 for the Nintendo Switch, an animated series would be a good way to help create some hype and excitement for it, or at least provide some additional content for fans of the franchise. In the meantime Shankar has also recently confirmed that he will be working on an anime series for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, so it looks like he will be busy for a while. That being said, how does the idea of a Metroid animated series sound to you guys? Yay or nay?
