Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, launched its first hardware product last year called Spectacles. They’re a pair of shades which have an integrated camera that makes it very easy to Snapchat your day away. The company only released the device in limited quantities at first and that too via pop-up vending machines. People waited in long lines to get their hands on one. Now that the hype has fizzled out, Snap is finally selling the Spectacles on Amazon.
Snap kept selling Spectacles through the vending machines for quite some time before allowing customers to order them online directly. It’s going to be much easier now to purchase one as Spectacles are finally available for purchase from Amazon.
All three colors namely black, coral, and teal are available for $129.99 on Amazon. They’re eligible for next-day delivery. Snap is selling them directly while orders are fulfilled by Amazon.
Even though there was a lot of hype surrounding this project, Snap doesn’t seem to have sold that many units. A report last quarter suggested that Snap had only sold around 60,000 units.
For its part, Snap has maintained that Spectacles have been an experiment all along and has conceded that they have “not generated significant revenue.”
