AMD recently revealed more details about its upcoming lineup of performance processors called Threadripper. If a new report is to be believed, the new processors won’t rely on traditional methods of air cooling to keep the temperature in check. The report suggests that AMD’s Threadripper processors are going to come with liquid cooling straight out of the box.
Liquid cooling is fundamentally different from air cooling solutions in that it doesn’t rely on fans that majority of the systems out there rely upon.
AMD is directly taking on Intel’s high-end processor lineup with the Threadripper series. It will be interesting to see how it performs against Intel’s K series processors that don’t come with air or liquid cooling.
Intel did announce a liquid cooler for these high-performance chips but it’s believed that the company sells the cooler separately. Not all customers are going to do that.
AMD has already priced the Threadripper CPUs very competitively against their rivals from Intel and if does include liquid coolers as well, customers will be getting serious value for money.
The company is going to release the 12-core/24-thread 1920X and the 16-core/32-thread 1950X Threadripper processors first and when they’re released, it will be known for sure whether or not the Threadripper series from AMD really does feature liquid cooling out of the box.
