Uber Will Finally Allow The Tipping Of Its Drivers

Are you pleased with your Uber service and want to tip them? For the longest time ever, tipping was a feature that was never offered inside the Uber app, and passengers who wanted to tip their drivers had to do so manually via cash, which in a way kind of defeats the point of Uber being a mostly cashless system.

However that has changed in an announcement by the company in which they are promising 180 days of change. In an email that they have sent out to drivers, they announced the tipping feature which will be initially launched in Seattle, Minneapolis, and Houston. “We’re starting with only 3 cities so we can create the best tipping experience for you and your riders. We’ll be adding more cities over the next few weeks, and will make tips available to all U.S. drivers, by the end of July 2017.”

Uber points out that service fees will not be deducted from your tips, so whatever you were tipped, you will gain in its entirety. In addition to tipping, Uber also announced that they have shortened the cancellation window from 5 minutes to 2 minutes, meaning that drivers will receive a cancellation fee if a ride is cancelled after 2 minutes of booking.

There is also a wait-time fee where drivers can start earning a per-minute-rate whenever they have to wait for their rider after a 2 minute waiting mark.
