Sony has introduced an exciting new way to play games with friends and family. It’s called PlayLink for PS4. Basically, what PlayLink does is that it combines your smartphone or tablet, TV, and PS4 console with a new collection of games that are designed to take advantage of the screen real estate offered by the smartphone or tablet and its camera capabilities.
The PlayLink games have been developed to be played in groups which will allow for a fun and dynamic gameplay experience with friends and family. The collection of games ranges from quick-fire quizzes to crime thrillers. To access PlayLink, players require a smartphone or tablet with the free companion app alongside a PS4 that’s hooked up to a TV.
The smartphone or tablet essentially transforms into a versatile controller for the PlayLink game. It can be used to perform a variety of tasks and gestures based on the game that’s being played.
One of the first PlayLink titles is called That’s You. It’s a comedy quick which challenges the player and five of their friends to answer questions that reveal how they really feel about each other. This particular game will be released for free to all PlayStation Plus subscribers come July 4th.
More PlayLink-compatible titles will be added to the lineup in the weeks to come but Sony is yet to confirm how much these titles are going to cost individually.
